Laughing at the 90's

At some point or another, everyone is forced to look at old photos of themselves. Either your grandma pulls out an album at Christmas, or your mom prints one in the newspaper for graduation, or an old friend tags you in a photo on Facebook.

Ever laugh at how stupid you were for thinking that the "tucked-in shirt with high-waisted, straight-legged jeans" look was cool? I did. I had no problem condemning my youthful idiocy in light of my now mature sense of style.

But then the skinny jeans came in style. Then I was in a quandary about what to think of my quintessential straight-legged 90's jeans. And then I realized that fashion is fickle and I'm stupid for just accepting whatever I'm told is cool. Except the fact of the matter is that I can't help participating in my society, which requires keeping up with the fashions.

So don't judge my maxi dress and gladiator sandals; I KNOW they're not objectively cool. But they are objectively comfortable and on-sale.

Besides, I think they're cool ... I think?
